acquisition & new name

In July 2010 Tyco Electronics announced that they intended to acquire the business of ADC.  In the EMEA and APAC regions ADC went to market as ADC KRONE reflecting ADC's earlier acquisition of the KRONE organisation. Tyco Electronics completed their acquisition of ADC on December 9th 2010.

The acquisition of ADC by Tyco Electronics brought together two market leading portfolios:

from ADC KRONE - TrueNet and from Tyco Electronics -  AMP NETCONNECT.

As part of the integration of ADC KRONE, we will be building a strong, unified portfolio. We will keep you up to date with progress of this integration in future newsletters.

On March 9th 2011 Tyco Electronics received shareholder approval to change its name to TE Connectivity and the new name was launched to the public via press announcements, advertising and a newly designed logo on all of it's websites across the world.

The TE Connectivity organisation is made up of 19 individual, customer facing business units. The AMP NETCONNECT and ADC KRONE portfolios form the offering for the business unit now known as TE Enterprise Networks.

From now on you will see and hear us refer to ourselves as TE Enterprise Networks, a part of TE Connectivity Ltd. You can read more about these changes and view our Frequently Asked Questions by following this

Virtually every networking headline that contains the words Data Center also seems to include the word "Cloud".

But what really is a Data Center and what is "Cloud Computing"?

What impact might they have on the way you and your customers do business?

What are the key development areas in Data Centers and is there really any substance to the Cloud – or is it all just vapour?

Data Centers are a strategic focus for TE and we are developing solutions and products specifically for Data Center and Cloud Computing applications.

In this edition we concentrate on pre-terminated fiber solutions for 10, 40 & 100Gbits/s with TE's MPOptimate solution.

standards

New Data Center Standard
The desire by society to have unrestricted access to information via the internet is generating an exponential growth in the volume, storage and retrieval of internet traffic. This information is stored within Data Centers which house equipment essential to running of the internet. Data centers are huge consumers of energy both for operating and cooling the transmission and storage equipment. Consequently, Data Center operational strategy needs an environmental focus which concentrates on minimising energy consumption from both an environmental aspect (carbon footprint reduction) and from an economical (energy costs) perspective..

A new Data Center standard series (EN 50600-R) addressing energy efficiency enablement is being developed and will be available in the near future.

Hans-Jürgen Niethammer,  TE Connectivity's marketing director EMEA/India/ANZ discusses the forthcoming standard and its implications.

news in detail

TE Enterprise Networks announces attendance on IBM Portable Data Center Road Show

On Dec. 14, 2010 -- TE announced that its structured cabling technology could be implemented as part of IBM's Enterprise Modular Data Center (EMDC) solution. IBM’s EMDC solution delivers a large-scale data center that allows customers to better meet unpredictable demands by providing smaller, repeatable increments of capacity – in the same way memory is added to a laptop.

As part of a supplier agreement with TE based upon IBM client requirements, the Enterprise Modular Data Center solution can now be deployed with TE's pre-terminated, modular cabling systems. With global access to TE's comprehensive line of copper cabling systems, clients can meet the structured cabling requirements of EMDC customers around the world. Read the full news release
here.

TE has now been invited to participate in IBM's portable data center road show which is made up of 16 events in key European business locations and has the goal of informing customers of the latest IBM Data Center solutions. The events are designed to educate customers on the key drivers for an efficient, dynamic IT infrastructure and to demonstrate the latest technologies deployed in Data Centers by utilizing a fully equipped, truck mounted, secure PMDC.
